Selecting features

Pick features with the Select tools, then delete, move, copy or table them.

The Select toolbar lets you choose a set of features and act on them all at once. Open the Select tab and pick a layer to work on.

Selection shapes

The top row chooses how you pick features:

  • Select — click a single feature (Shift-click to add more).
  • Rectangle, Circle, Polygon, Lasso — drag a shape and select everything inside it.
  • Move — drag the selected features to a new position together, with Undo move / Cancel move if you change your mind.

Selection mode

The second row sets how each new pick combines with the current selection — New (replace), Add (keep and extend) or Remove (deselect) — and shows how many features are selected.

Act on the selection

With features selected you can:

  • Delete them from the layer, or Clear the selection.
  • Zoom to fit the selection, or Pan to it while keeping your current zoom.
  • Table — open the attribute table filtered to just the selection.
  • Move to… — move or duplicate the selected features into another layer (existing or a new one). Choose whether to keep only matching fields or append missing columns to the target.

You can also restrict spatial analysis and the field calculator to the current selection.
