Open a GeoPackage online — free

A GeoPackage (.gpkg) holds map layers in a single file. DropMaps opens it in your browser so you can see it on a map and look through its data — handy when you do not have QGIS or ArcGIS on hand.

    How to do it

    1. Drop your GeoPackage file into the box above — or click “choose a file” to pick it from your device.
    2. Click “Open in DropMaps”. DropMaps opens in a new tab with your file already on the map.
    3. The layers appear on the map. Click any feature to see its details, or open the table to see them all.

    Questions

Can I save it as a shapefile or KML?

Yes. Once it is open you can save a layer as a shapefile, KML, GeoJSON, CSV and more. See the GeoPackage to shapefile converter.

    Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is opened right in your browser, on your own computer. Nothing is sent to us unless you choose to save the map to a DropMaps account.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It works in any modern web browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari — on Windows, Mac, Linux, and on phones and tablets.

    Is it really free?

Yes. Opening, viewing, editing and exporting files is free, with no signup needed. An account is only needed if you want to save maps to the cloud or share them with a link.
