Questions
How are the locations stored?
Points get longitude and latitude columns. Paths and areas are kept as a text description of the shape (WKT) in their own column, which GIS software can read back.
My file has more than one layer. How do I convert the rest?
The save options open for the first layer. For the others, open the layer’s menu in the layer list and choose Export….
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened right in your browser, on your own computer. Nothing is sent to us unless you choose to save the map to a DropMaps account.
Is it really free?
Yes. Opening, viewing, editing and exporting files is free, with no signup needed. An account is only needed if you want to save maps to the cloud or share them with a link.
